SCANPAN Damastahl Cutlery is fully forged from one piece of VG-10 Japanese Damascus steel. The origins of Damascus steel have been lost over time but archaeological finds show that this type of technology, forging and re-folding the forged steel time and again, has been in use for thousands of years. The multiple blade layers created by this method result in superior blade strength and knife edge retention and form an attractive, unique blade pattern in the process.
SCANPAN Damastahl is made of 33 layers of Damascus steel, providing a Rockwell hardness of 61 ± 2.This retains the 18° cutting edge for a long time and at the same time allows for easy re-sharpening with the SCANPAN Damastahl Diamond Sharpening Steel. The ergonomically designed tri-lobal handle provides a secure grip, even when wet. |
SCANPAN Damastahl Cutlery is designed in Denmark and manufactured to rigorous specification and under license and supervision in China. The VG-10 Damascus steel is imported from Japan.
